The Great Eastern Railway

The Great Eastern Railway (GER) was a railway of extreme contrasts; it provided an intensive suburban service
over a network of lines in the North to East sector of outer London; it ran some quite prestigious express services
between London and Norfolk; it also ran some equally prestigious trains to compliment its
Continental Maritime ferry service, yet over much of the area it served there were
sleepy branch lines in rural districts as exemplified by the
Wisbech and Upwell Tramway.
