I live and work in Edinburgh and at lunchtimes go for a wander around Saughton Cemetery. There is a gravestone erected there engraved Robert H Roberts died 1 October 1953 age 81 ex LNER. (His wife Isabella died in 1942) To mention LNER on his gravestone implies he may have been someone important. He must have been born 1872 and if he left school at 15 he started work, maybe on the North British, in 1889 and maybe retired from LNER age 65 in 1937. He is not an ancestor; I am merely curious that someone would mention his employer on his gravestone 16 years after retiral.
