Hopefully the fortnight will allow for the test assembly to be shown. Good progress from the original announcement, could be here by year end, another very useful engine from the right design shop. Also good, looks like the same motor seen in the J15.

That would actually be an ingenious alternative way of selling a model - i.e. a CKD kit.

Wouldn't need the motor, gears or wheels in my case

An old Tri Ang idea remember they did a CKD kit of a Woodhead Electric with choice of names.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Considering how many differences there were between the members of the class, Hornby might be onto a winner if they were to market it as a kit too.

No 'it's not the right subclass', 'the one Hornby modelled didn't run in my area at my chosen period', 'this/ that/ the other isn't fitted' claims, plus it'd be easier to hackbash/alter/superdetail without having to worry about damaging detail or paintwork you want to keep.

There were two of these at Darnall in the early 50s.

Always one in Park Station sidings, as the N2.s were not strong enough to shunt in there.

The other one was used to take coal to Neepsend Power station, again the N2.s would have struggled with the load the J 50s had to pull up to there

I think one was 68990 the other numbered somewhere near that, anyone who can confirm the numbers of the two we had.

Seems to show that 68983 and 68990 were allocated to Darnall from 1/1948 to 11/1952.
Cheers from Oz,

Does anyone know if there is a pre-war LNER equivalent of this database please?

I believe that's called the "Yeadon's Register of LNER Locomotives" series of books. I'm unaware of any free database!
Most subjects, models and techniques covered in this thread are now listed in various categories on page1

Dec. 2018: Almost all images that disappeared from my own thread following loss of free remote hosting are now restored.

I suspected that might be the answer. A full set of Yeadon's is beyond my budget I fear.

G'day Gents

Teaky, you'll have to be like me then, buy one at a time when you see the odd bargain, but with me I have to add at least 10pounds postage to Oz, I have the grand total of TWO, so far,

I wonder what else the chassis of a J50 will fit, J3, J4, ETC !!! :D

Hi, I managed to complete a collection of Yeadons using Amazon and the Book Law shop in Nottingham.
