Triang 0-4-0 Y7 conversion

Post by Rlangham »

Picked up this via ebay last night and thought it may be of interest - obviously not a spot on replica as the boiler is too large diameter, but I think it's a nice little shunter and for what it cost i'm more than happy to have it sat in a siding.

Thats lovely. Put some fine couplings on it, some finescale wheels and coupling rods and it will look even better still. How much did you pay if you dont mind me asking?
Its good to know where you stand. Saves making a fool of yourself later......

Won it for just under £13, a bargain in my eyes - well, aside from the fact it's started me collecting NER items in OO as well as N gauge now, so i've also got myself a J72 and a 10ton Brake Van...!

What a nice cheerful little engine - those Triang Pollys were a nice design - wish I'd kept mine! :)

Ay up!

I have a soft spot for the Nellie - mine is the S&D blue version from the 1970s.

Appropriate for a layout set in North Somerset....

Your little NER one loos great! If you can't get the original Mainline type couplers, wire loops would look A1!
If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!

Did Triang/Hornby base Nellie/Polly/Connie on a real locomotive?

I have to say I too have a soft spot for them and wouldn't mind an excuse to reintroduce one or two to my collection! :)

G'Day Gents

Nellie/Polly/Connie is based on the LSWR C14, but without the outside valve gear ! and if I remember correctly they were the loco part of LSWR railmotors.

In an early edition of one of the newer modelling mags there was a feature on the Nellie/Polly/Connie conversion to the LSWR loco im struggling to remember which one but think it could be British Railway Modelling.
