Good thought that, an overlay to correct the firebox side profile.

Thanks also to Ivan for the prompt to look at the LHS profile, error only easily perceptible in the end on view of the body with the cab removed.

Only difficulty there will be getting it to blend in. I did try something similar on a Hornby "Duchess" shell (the 1977 tooling before it was reworked in recent years) to increase the bulk of the firebox, especially towards the front), but am not convinced that I succeeded.

Incidentally, the top rear section of the A2 firebox looks a bit too wide, according to a quick comparison with the Isinglass drawing. I was thinking that maybe a narrow longitudinal wedge could be sawn out, and the gap then closed up.

Got the tender today, ta Ivan :) it's amazing how close a direct copy it is! Will be given handrails and a plain black paint job for my next A2/1.

Having thought further about the top of the A2 firebox, I'm going to retrieve the remains of the Hornby A3 body which gave up its boiler and smokebox for the V2 some time ago, as the top section of the A3 firebox looks as though it might contribute the right sort of curves to the A2.

Maybe not so amazing, given the method of cloning.

I've received an e-mail from Amazon selling the following:

A3 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00N ... em_1p_5_lm

A4 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00U ... em_1p_3_lm

B12 http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00W ... em_1p_2_lm

All for £24.99 each.

Those of us who stocked up on A4s at £2.99 each could make a few bob, but we won't. Will we?

What's the problem if people do sell them for more than they paid? If there are people willing to pay over inflated prices for them, then why not make a few ££££?
