An interesting Sunday only working at WGC station during the 1970-72 period (that is when I recall seeing it although it may have also ran during the late 1960s?) was a curious Deltic hauled parcels train that was usually formed of 30+main line vehicles consisting of BGs & GUVs which would arrive at WGC station in the Up slow platform and then unload & load parcels for around 10 minutes before departing. This train has been mentioned before many years ago and even the train headcode was given as well although I have forgotten it. This train is thought to have originated either from Newcastle or York during the Sunday morning and then made it's slow progress south arriving at WGC around 5:00pm tea-time after which it then departed along the Up slow line towards Hatfield and London. The train had to be 'turned in' off the Up fast line and along the Up slow line at the south end of the Welwyn viaduct (which meant that Welwyn North box would have been opened) because on arriving in the Up slow line platform at WGC the rear of the train would be standing as far back as the Knightsfield road overbridge (the modern concrete bridge that was built in the 1960s) and the train it's self due to it's extremely long length was actually quite an impressive sight to see.
