Whittingham Station - 2

Post by Kestrel »

Did any one see Restoration Man on Channel 4 this evening?

A guy saw and bought the old Whittingham Station in Northumberland and turned it into a house.

A interesting point is the Star of David on the wrought iron canopy supports. Is that telling a story?

I believe the star is a masonary symbol. BTW don't get mad at the people calling the goods shed an engine shed, shame there wasn't a D20 at the platform.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

Looking at the above links and the various photos you can see of the site, it would be a good little model for someone to create. The station building would be about 18" long.

It would make a better model if the track plan was pre 1915 as a branch ran off to the right as you look to the North to a brick and tile works. The only pic ive managed to turn up actually surfaced in the program with the point to the branch just being visible. Ive spoken to one guy a few years ago who remembered it, the track was removed in 1915 for the war effort.

I apologise but I hadn't realised I'd created a second thread on this subject until I saw this today.
