I'm not sure, I have looked at the close-up pictures that I took in 2016...under the paint you can see what looks like flush rivets around the middle of the arc, perhaps 6 - 8 in number..whether these are original is an unknown....I have tried to blow up 30's images with little success...they do look like there may be the same type of fixings as today but I can only see smudges, nothing high enough in resolution to be certain...to date my replies from NRM have not been fruitful... although I haven't asked this particular question as of yet...

I don't know whether there was only one paint shop, or whether the foreman's memory was accurate, but some photos show A3s with polished or black wheel rims around this time, including 2563 William Whitelaw https://www.thetransportlibrary.co.uk/- ... 2563-willi and 2566 Ladashttps://www.thetransportlibrary.co.uk/- ... 2566-ladas etc..2512silverfox wrote: ↑Mon Jun 11, 2018 3:39 pm According to the paint shop foreman (interviewed extensively in 1965) all locos left the plant with their wheels lined in the approved manner and a white line on both rim and boss. ................
