LNER Coach Destination Boards

Post by 2392 »

Regarding the through coach destination boards workings from Kings X to Whitby, Does any member know the correct wording i.e. was it London [Kings Cross]-Whitby or just Kings Cross-Whitby? This for a set of new boards for nearly restored Thompson TK 1623 based on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway.

It seems appropriate to post the following under this heading, even though it isn't connected with the original post.
At a recent railwayana auction (for lower interest/value items) the board shown here appeared. It was no longer black and white but off-white (as one would expect from exposure to smoke etc.) and dark blue. Perhaps this is the effect of pollution, too, but it seems odd that black should degrade to Oxford blue. Sorry about the background; I didn't buy it (£60 top bid).

I believe it was 'King's Cross - <destination>'.
