Is Bittern Finally on it's way?

Post by x568wcn »

Bittern looks to be coming on the 15th, Kings Corss to Scarborough, looking at UK steam.

It's now got to Southall, and is basing there for the time being.

September 7th it has a loaded test run from Southall to Bristol and back.

Tuesday 11th it goes down to Old Oak Common

(Saturday 15th Kings cross To Scarborough)

Sunday 16th Old Oak Common to Southall

Friday 21st Old Oak Common - Wansford (NVR)

(Saturday 22nd Talisman Kings Cross (Grantham) To Newcastle)

Hmmmm....

Looks like Bittern had a problem on the run to Bristol.

See the following link:-

http://www.watercressline.co.uk/tw/index.htm

Hope it is not too serious, and precautionary stop.

Run on the 22nd is still showing though - The Talisman.

They are working on big-end and repairing at Bristol with the intention of running back to Mid-Hants under own steam. Not sure how long that will take though - info from Engine Shed news on Mid Hants site as above.

Notice now that movement to Wansford (NVR) on Friday 21st, and back to Old Oak Common on Sunday 23rd have now been cancelled.

If it fails for 29th trip 6021 Princess Elizabeth is hauling.

It got back to Southall last Saturday.

And it's movements for Sunday have been cancelled, with no movements listed now!

Oh and #7 on Nov 10th, Middlesborough - Barrow Hill, is 2 different engines now, as 7 is unavailable!

Hey ho, lets go

Do we know as to why #7 isn't running?

As for Doubles, here in York we have
8th December 45407+45231 St Albans - York
22nd December 45407+45231 Leicester - York

oh and Bittern Twice (if it gets here!), and the Duke if it's fixed.

Yep and you get 3 A4s next year.

The only excuse Ive herd for 60007 is 'its a bit tender'. They proberbly want to get alot of running in done before a tour that size and the fact that A4s are out of gauge for Grosmont to Middlesburgh, atleast there was in April because 60009 could not reach the NYMR.

As for local area tours Im in Fareham at the moment but Im back home in the North West for the Copy Pit run and Im planning a run behind 6233 and 60019 in one day next year, before going back up north, seeing 3 A4s, 70013 and 3 Black 5s, I love flucky holidays.
