can anybody tell me whether 4'2" disc or spoke wheels were fitted to A3 non corridor streamlined tenders. I have several pictures but cannot see the wheels clear enough
disc or spoked wheels
Hello Tony
There is a nice rear threequarters photograph of 60039 Sandwich, fitted with a non corridor streamlined tender, on p18 of 'Power of the A3's'.this appears to show spoked wheels fitted.
Also in the same book on p84, 60092 Coronach with streamlined tender and definately fitted with spoked wheels, although it is not possible to see if it is a corridor tender or not.
Cheers............Dave

Think all were Spoked except 5484 built for the W1, which is now on UOSA.
Out of Intrest, the survivers are
5670 (Mallard as 5642)
5484 (Union of South Africa)
5332 (Bittern Water Carrier)
5325 (Flying Scotsman)
5324 (Sir Nigel Gresley)
5638 (Bittern - Coverted to Corridor Status!)
5671 (Dwight D Eisenhower)
5326 (Dominion of Canada -The tender it started with 6 tenders before!)
