LNER Dia 214 Fish Vans

Post by Trestrol »

The LNER Coach Association on the NYMR is about to start rebuilding its LNER fish van E75169. It has gone away to have it's steel frame repaired and a new headstock fitted. It will then be shot blasted and primed. It will then be returned for a new wooden frame to be built. This is where the problem starts, as although we took many pictures during dismantling we are struggling to find the General Arrangement drawing for this diagram (LNER 214). Our Archivist has looked in the NRM and also the Ken Hoole collection at Darlington to no avail. We have a few basic drawings but could do with the one showing the body construction. Does anybody know of the existence of the drawing or B.R dia 1/800 Fish van drawings. The early build BR vans where virtually identical.

By Coincidence a similary question came up on another forum recently. Although not quite what you were looking for they might help in the absence of anything else turning up.

The diagrams you want are on (pages 218 and 219, diagrams 1/255 - plain bearings - and 1/256 - roller bearings - respectively):

Model Railway News November 1968 had a drawing which might assist. Have you thought of asking the guys at Parkside where they got the information for their kit?
