That is a great link, but if the GE mainline was weight restricted wouldn't the locos have arrived via the Cambridge line the other way?

I think you may be right, although I would have thought the Cambridge/Ipswich line was more weight restricted. One cannot be sure as it may have passed through Stoke Tunnel to get to the engine shed and be turned.
