Golden age of preserved NER steam?

Post by Rlangham »

Considering the NER locomotives currently or due to be in service in the next few years, are we about to enter a golden age of preserved NER steam? Currently the J72 and Q6 are both undergoing work to make them ready for steam soon, although I understand the J72 ticket is up later this year. As well as those two, the J27 should steam later this year after overhaul, and added to that there is the J21 which is due to be restored back to working order after receiving lottery funding and the replica G5, added to which there is of course the NER Autocar. Both Y7's are serviceable also. Raises the possibility of a potentially very interesting NER gala at NYMR or another ex-NER line, I'd certainly be interested in seeing the J21 and J27 together which would surely be the first time in preservation
