Hi,
I glimpsed this loco from a bus as it passed under the bridge at Finsbury Park in 1960/61. It was the first A3 I had seen and I fell in love with that engine there and then. I now have time to model the locos from then and have an A3 in 7mm that I want to make as 61. It must have a double chimney for that era and I want her in ex works condition, so when was she last repainted and did she have small or trough deflectors. I like the A3 in either form and I’m sure I saw her in both forms so. Ex works for the last time small or trough?
Thanks
Bob

Bob this topic should help.

I note you contributed to the thread.

60061 had a last general repair early in 1962 ex-works 3/2/62. It did have trough deflectors, from that date.

John
I’d forgotten this previous thread!
I now have a dilemma, model her in final form or as I first saw her with small wing deflectors. She does look very clean in the post above mine on the previous thread.
Sorry about the amnesia!
Bob

And my thanks

Thank you, a lovely photo of a lovely engine.
I have decided to model her in the condition I first saw her so small deflectors. I shall defend her pristine condition by claiming the cleaners were allocated a chunk of overtime.
Best wishes
