Sentinel Steam railcars

Post by Chuffinell »

LNER Sentinel Steam railcars - I think that a few of these ran on the former LDECR. I believe they ran from Chesterfield Mkt Place, via Langwith Junc, then down the ex-GNR Leen Valley line to Nottm Vic; in the years just before WW2 - anyone know which ones were regulars on this route, in terms of names & numbers? Alternatively which ones were allocated to Colwick &/or Annesley? - I know that Commerce was one - any others?

Not sure they ran on the LDEC by the late 1930s.

In the 1935 Nottingham District WTT they generally appear between Basford and various stations on the Nottingham-Grantham line. Plus Nottingham to Ilkeston.

Rival and Expedition had periods at Colwick around this time. Commerce was there the longest.

My understanding is that the Annesley allocation was for the Dido working only.
