Hello,
that's interesting that you lived for some time in Koblenz. My hometown is Höhr-Grenzhausen. Do you know it?
Then you might have heard about the Brexbachtalbahn when you were in Germany. It will be used again as a tourist railway! Hopefully trains will start running this year.
Another question in respect to language. How would you translate Spurweite. I saw once in a small sheet with translations of railway related words that the translated it as track width. Isn't the word gauge a better translation?

I live near Rainhill on Merseyside.
A couple of years ago i built a 3.5" gauge, 1.0625" to the ft live steam model of a Hunslet ng 0-4-0 (dinorwic type),that is how i came to choose my user name,quite simple really :D

Spurweite = "gauge" in English.

I never went to the Westerwald in steam days - but I remember that you could see a Bw (engine shed) with some 82's on the top of a hill (Siershahn?), as you drove south from Köln on the Autobahn. I was always in a hurry to get to Hof for the 01's, and when I did go to that Bw it was too late, steam had finished.

Its at this museum Richard.
Dwight D Eisenhower is also there but they have painted the motion white.

Ah Green Bay - I'll get there one day!

There's a picture on the A4 page of Eisenhower's unusual motion.

The museum here in Dallas does have some interest stock - a Big Boy, a Mikado with rear truck booster (ie. like those Gresley tried on the P1s), a GG1, DD40, etc. Unfortunately everything is out in the open.

I think a few Pershings must survive - the Texas State Railroad has one in running condition.

If I get to Green Bay, do you thinik customs would have a problem with anything to declare? It has to come home for it's own safety!

And is it me, or did Mr Eisenhower never get on the train?

Also, shouldn't the lining be in red, and the letters on the plate be plain metal?
