Peppercorn Pacifics Allocations?

Post by TheFlyingCheeseman »

Hi

Can anyone tell me what sheds (or just general areas) Peppercorns Pacifics were allocated during their lifetimes, most importantly the A1s, as well as the lines they typically worked on?

Thanks!

Work your way through the locomotive numbers on this website: www.brdatabase.info for the allocations

I've started you off with Peppercorn A2 60532 Blue Peter:

The A1s were popular at Copley Hill in the early 1950s. Many great Eric Treacy photos of them climbing out of Leeds.

The Green Books from the RCTS or Yeadon's Register would give more detail, as well as the site recommended by 65447.

John,

I thought of recommending the RTCS 'greenies' but Part 2A was an early one and lacks the detail of later Parts - I checked. There's also the problem of getting hold of a copy. At least the on-line database is FOC, although ISTR donations via Paypal towards running costs are always welcome. As to the Yeadon, it doesn't give workings either, but they can be deduced.

OK 65447.

Actually, I think the Yeadon's were a missed opportunity, there is a lot more on the record cards. But who knew they would sell as they did when they first came out? Also, the poorly captioned photos have been a disappointment throughout.

I trust visits to Southwold are keeping up your Adnams' intake M.
