Gresley door ventilator cover

Does anyone have a drawing of the external ventilator covers on the doors of Gresley LNER coaches.

Iā€™m building kits (KAlasercraft) of 51ā€™6ā€ ordinary stock, the ventilators at the top of the doors are flat rectangles of laser cut wood. Looking at photos I wonder if the covers are angled outwards slightly from top to bottom and have curved edges on the top and sides.

The kits are gauge 1 10mm/ft so the detail is very noticeable.

Many thanks

Ralph

Yes they do taper slightly towards the top, I can't remember exactly by how much but would guess about an 1/8" to a 1/4" at full size but these aren't something I've ever had to make.

Ralphw,
Following on from Mikes photos and sawdusts comments you might find these extracts from drawing 12077D of help.
I can also provide the internal louvre as well if you require it.

Brilliant, many thanks for the information.
I had assumed they were metal and painted, not wood.
Given the shape I will plan to make a master and cast then in resin.
Regards
Ralph

Why not do as I would if I had to make a batch of these full size?

Plane and sand a length of suitable timber to the right profile, cut them off to length, round the ends then file the vent in the back. šŸ™‚
