Does anyone have any works drawings for the Raven Pacifics? I have the Isinglass drawing, of course, which is probably sufficient for a 2mm scale model, but it’s always good to get as much info as possible.

There Is a fully detailed GA in the Darlington Drawings list at the NRM

Roll 113 DRG No. 10413 4-6-2 type engine 09/05/1923

I was daft enough to get a 1/8th copy. I will leave you to work out how big that is!!!!!!

I recommend you get a digital scan at the same time,it only costs £10 extra.
I can email a copy of the full list if you want it. It is surprising what is in there

Thanks Arthur. I’m on to my NRM contact.

Having not seen the drawing to which Arthur refers, I might point out that it was practice at Darlington to do two separate drawings.
One side elevation and plan, another the cab views. Not easy to find them together.
Certainly, they did not follow the way in which the GNR for instance.

I now have some rather fine GA and pipe drawings for the NER 4-6-2.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Be lovely to see one of these back.
Perhaps we could raise the money and get some guidance from the A1SLT?

The Raven Pacific is making good progress (details in the model section). I wonder if anyone knows the provenance of this photo which I found on the web:

It was dated December 1922 and it looks as if 2400 may be in works grey. A better resolution image would be good.

The date suggests to me a final exhibition of the NER's own traction achievement. What is the location?

The location is York's old station, from what I read the event was a "last hurrah" of the NER, showing off their latest and greatest locos (4.6.2, No.13, a Class Z, and what appears to be an S3 or T3).

And a BTP, for comparison, I guess?

Two of the things that puzzle me with the Skittle Alley are whether the reversing gear balance weight (seen above the frames) was visible when the engine was in forward gear.

Also, at some point, it seems that the wheels had some extra square-shaped weights added to the crescent shape as-cast. My engine will be in near original condition so I suspect it would not have the additions. Anyone any ideas?

I seem to recall that there was a general review of wheel balancing in the early 30's.

Given that Raven pacific was a 'stretch' development from the C7, are there any clues to be obtained from photographs of this class?

How about a B16 or Q7, they were both of a similar design vintage.

The earliest dated photo I have of 2400 with the additional weights is from 1930. I did not find one which predated the post-1928 movement of the number to the cabside, so I think you're excused those, Tim.

Thanks all. Just needs a good near side, looking-down photo of a loco with equivalent valve gear, or even a Skittle Alley, moving forwards.
