C16 Livery

Can anyone advise if ex. NBR C16 tank engines were ever painted in LNER green after the grouping?
My understanding is that up until the grouping they ran in bronze green, which they may have retained for some time post 1923 but with LNER numbering an lettering, and were subsequently painted black with red lining (there is an excellent photo of 9448 in this livery in the Bradford Barton book "Scottish Steam Miscellany").
