What colour would the cab roofs be painted, Charcoal as the smokebox front or mid grey as the valances?

I beg to differ - I believe the silver A4s had a very dark grey front to the smokebox, cab roof and tender top. Of course this would have weathered quickly and certainly the cab roof and tender top may not have been cleaned very often.

G'Day Gents

I was also under the impression that the livery was two tone Grey.
