A question posed on another group but I wondered if an answer may be found on here..... What tender is currently behind Bittern...It is corridor but would anyone know the number?

60019 Bittern - Tender

In BR days at least, none of the Gateshead A4s had corridor tenders. Bittern's present tender is not a genuine LNER-built corridor tender. When the tender body was being rebuilt on the Mid Hants Railway the loco's owner requested that its tender should look like a corridor one. After all, if you're wealthy enough to own and run your own private A4, you can do more or less what you like with it!
I'm open to correction about this, but apart from the rear connection and porthole I'm not sure that Biittern's tender body does actually have a corridor.

It does indeed have a corridor as per my photo from December below, which is it's only tender it has ever had number 5638

The tender was retained at Doncaster Works, and was attached to Class A4 Nº60009 UNION OF SOUTH AFRICA (in for a General Overhaul 16/7/1963 to 6/11/1963), 6/11/1963 to withdrawal 1/6/1966, when the Tender was not scrapped but was purchased by Alan Pegler and converted into the water carrying second tender for the preserved Class A3 FLYING SCOTSMAN.
(Six Changes of Engine, plus One into preservation.)
I don't think it has been used, and isn't at York at present for the weekend, but it is on the following page

Tender Nº5638 – 1936 Non Corridor Streamlined Type
The Tender building was obviously not keeping pace with the locomotive building, so this Tender, first attached to Class A3 Nº2752 SPION KOP 23/1/1937 to 27/9/1937, was transferred to Class A4 Nº4464 (Nº19, Nº60019) BITTERN 18/12/ 1937 to withdrawal 5/9/1966. The tender was not scrapped but taken into preservation with the locomotive. (Two Changes of Engine)
