Hello jamesb

Ian Allan Combined Volume Winter 1955/56 (reprint)

47300 - 33A Plaistow (sub shed Upminster) - Good old LTSR . . .

However, I have not been to 33A since 1961 and never to Upminster -
thus I could not identify the location of the image !

Cheers

The Northern Railfans Club (1952) will this year be holding a special grand reunion in Todmorden on Saturday October 27th 2018. We are trying to contact as many ex members or any who had any contact with the club.
Please come back to me for further details, or if you know of any one who may have been a member, please let them know.

Following on from your picture of no.46256 SIR WILLIAM A. STANIER FRS Jimmy here is another picture of the loco shortly before being withdrawn from traffic in 1964 and 'cut up' at Cashmore's and as Ron White says on a dvd that features this particular loco in 'gleaming condition' on it's last rail tour working in 1964 "Who could scrap a loco in that condition?".

That Jinty doesn't seem to be at Plaistow, and certainly not Upminster. At Plaistow the water tank was over the coaler and I don't think the background building is right. There also seems to be a tender loco present - a Standard class 4 Mogul, maybe? The coaling arrangement seems a little odd, as the loco is being coaled from the rear, not the side.

Just found this excellent sit whilst browsing. I was a member from late 1950s into 60s and have along with my ABCs a copy of the club's Diesel Power Car Allocations 1961, priced at 1/- for LM,NE, Eastern and SC region allocations.

I think it's the Midland Compound (1000) - the lining doesn't match B-H.
