NER Petrol Railcar restoration

Post by Rlangham »

Came across this website today, very interesting, an NER (later LNER) Petrol Electric Railcar number 3170. She is the only survivor of two of her type, and is being restored to running condition, and kept on the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway (i think)

Thanks, I've bookmarked the site for when I get to the railcars pages.
Unfortunately I probably won't get to them until next year.

Older, dirtier technology, but it is a shame that none of the Sentinel railcars survived.

I was surprised to read about this survivor still being around, if anyone has some money it's a worthy cause to donate to, you can even sponsor a plank for the sides for under £20, and you become a Friend of the Autocar trust and (i think) a reserved seat when she becomes operational!

The website for this hasn't been updated for about three years now - anyone know anything more about this?

As Richard said
"Older, dirtier technology, but it is a shame that none of the Sentinel railcars survived."

There is a Sentinel set at Quainton Rd returned from Egypt admittedley not NORTH EASTERN but it is a Sentinel.
I do not know though what condition it is in now.

One of the railway monthlys has a paragraph with an email address i think its Trains Illustrated.
