Does anyone know the history of this depot?

For instance

- when were the roundhouse and long shed built? At the same time? By the NBR?

- when was the second turntable provided? When the A3s arrived?

Thanks for any help.

(We need a NBR shed history!)

Kudu: A3s at Carlisle Canal. 4480/60111 18/12/28, 2745/60091 arrived 26/10/28,2748/60094 5/4/29, 2749/60095 6/2/29. Various other members of the class were also allocated to Canal over the years for varying periods, particularly 2567/60068 and 2578/60079. 60095 Flamingo was there all of its life down to 1961, save for an initial few days when new at Doncaster in 1928. Post -war in the 1950s and early 1960s the Carlisle quartet were 60068/79/93/95.

Thanks, stembok. The Canal A3s were the elusive ones in London.

Now, does anyone know any history about the shed itself?

...and don't forget 60035 April to August 1961 just before withdrawal from Haymarket in September of that year

As well as 60035, A3 60057 was also allocated to Canal for a spell in the spring of 1961. The reason for these loans from the Scottish Region was that the through St Pancras - Edinburgh services were very shortly to be dieselised and the LMR was presumably unwilling to allow further heavy repairs for the Canal A3s in the light of this,so the engines loaned from Haymarket filled in until dieselisation. Of the 12C A3s 60095 was withdrawn 1/4/61 and 60079, which had previously been stored at Canal, on 11/9/61. 60068 was the last Canal A3 to have a general repair, ex works 3/61.
