Hi.
In building my 7mm scale model of Gresley's A1 'Robert the Devil' which was out shopped from Doncaster in July 1923, can any one tell me if it would have been designated with the running number 4479 straight away or did it have the number 1479. If 4479, I assume the number was on the cab side, and if 1479 it was on the tender only.
Many thanks for any help
slimited.

1479N from August 1924
4479 from March 1924
The number was on the tender until at least 1928. Not named until between April 1925 and February 1926
