7 1/4 Gauge A3 "Flying Fox"

Post by leighsteamer »

Members may recall giving valuable help to me on the cab, and livery of this loco, and several asked to see the finished loco, so here it is, now that it has passed its boiler tests, and run a few miles.
I know that "Flying Fox" never wore this number as an A3, pulled this tender or had a Banjo dome, but when you build loco I think you are entitled to "builders licence".
Hope you like her (him), since it is seems a very powerful loco, and I am delighted with her (him). I remember this loco as the first I ever touched, and stood on the footplate of when I was 57 years younger.
Regards & thanks

Now that is what I call workmanship. Truly awesome. Well done just doesn't seem good enough.

Will it be doing a tour of the miniature lines?
Just wondering if it might appear at Gilling N Yorks.

Hi, I live in Essex, so the loco will spend most of its time in the Great Eastern area, it is proposed to go to Coventry later this year.
After that, who knows.
thanks for the kind remarks.

Hi Leightsteamer.

A stunning loco, I hope she goes as well as she looks. If you ever get near York, you would be most welcome to steam her on the York Model Engineer's 7 1/4 track.
