Just came across this on the Heritage Railways database. If you go to this page

http://www.heritagerailways.com/rlylocos.html

And go on 'north eastern railway' then click 'search', you get a locomotive number 1, apparently it's an electric loco number 1 4we, built at Bolton, and at NRM York. Does anyone know what this is? I reckon they've got it mixed up with the ES1 number 1 electric bo-bo, also at the NRM (Shildon now though), not sure though

Cheers, Rob

I suspect that this is a typographical error. There is a 4 wheel battery electric loco from the North Staffordshire Railway in the national collection.

Quote:

"NSR Battery Electric Locomotive No1 0-4-0, 1917. This locomotive was built by T Botton & Sons for North Staffordshire Railway. It was withdrawn from service in 1964."
