I managed to find a couple of pictures on the net clearing up the mess after the bombing.

The first one is a common picture in nearly every book on A4s at some stage, but this is the one you don't see!

Mark,

Your second photo reminds me that I must finish that old K's kit of a GNR Atlantic sometime soon,

They are all impresive pictures. I makes me wonder if it was a bomb or a 1000 pdr mine that destroyed the loco. The main piture looks like the loco was blown sideways causing the center drivers too be detached. But yes this is just speculation. Anyone on the site have any knowlage on the Lufftwaffe bombs & sizes ? Or will it make a good diorama/model ! just a few thoughts.

Either melted or blown, as the cab and centre wheels have gone, but we don't know the extent of the bombing do we?
did it simply fall over and land on it's side, or did it get thrown some distance. A simulation would be great showing it from it's starting place to landing spot, and I belive they never found the centre wheels, or the other name plate!

Things like the centre wheels and name plate would not have been broken into unrecognisable pieces so my guess is in a nearby garden or the bottom of the Ouse.

The ouse being my point, we do not know where the bomb hit, and how far it went from standing, all we know is where it set off from, and the ouse is a fair trek, plus the line past was open next morning, so debris didn't get that far!
