How original is Green arrrow, I know that the main reason for it to be preserved was that it still retains the original monobloc cylinder casting.
Did you know that V2 & A2 Boilers are the same? or same diamensions.

It certanley won't have the same boiler. But the Frames, Wheels and maby motion will be original.

what, preservation is based on how many parts are original now?

Of course, parts will have been replaced at least once during a locomotive's life due to overhaul, or accidental damage, etc., but surely in the eyes of enthusiasts and general public alike will still regard it as the same locomotive? I would've thought the main reason for preserving Green Arrow was that it was the pioneer of a successful and elegant class :)

It's also preserved as it's an exaple with a Monobloc Cylinder casting. In there later lives BR was replacing them with single castings for each cylinder.

The Monobloc made V2's unique and special. However it was mainly cosen because it was the first of the class as this was the norm with choosing preserved locos from the class unless another member had a special reason (Eg Mallard).

It would be interesting what the history of the boiler is.

Get yeadons vol4, which should tell you from Building to Preservation, and the national collection has had it all it's life, so as soon as the Seach engine is open, I might look in to that.
