4500 Garganey book?

Post by AdamOrmorod4468 »

I was clearing out some old files, and stumbled on this photo of 4500 Garganey leaving King's Cross which appears to be from a book:

Does anyone know what book this is from?

This photograph (cropped to show the tender lettering and cab number) appears in the book Locomotives in Detail, A4 Class, by David Clarke, Publ Ian Allan 2005.
The photo is attributed to CR/HML (meaning Colour Rail/H.M.Lane).

It's probably been published in a number of places. The snippet of text underneath matches that on p62 of 'LNER Locomotives in Colour 1936-1938' by Ron White and Norman Johnston (Colourpoint Books, 2002).

As above, ISBN 1898392277 which particularly features the HM Lane collection among several such acquired by Colour Rail. Unusually there's something of an NER area bias, HM lane clearly enjoyed documenting their traction legacy (You have to create your own index to quickly find the page you want, with the one of the 41 subjects the collection covers.)
