Photos of Flying Scotsman from the 1940s

Post by 2745CaptainCuttle »

Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any images of Flying Scotsman from the 1940s, specifically during WWII and in the following years before nationalization. I do have 2 images on hand, the first is of Flying Scotsman in 1946, still in its Gresley A1 form and sporting the number 103.

The second image is of Flying Scotsman circa 1947 (I'm not sure of the year) as British Railways E103, having been recently modified into an A3.

There's a shot of her at Finsbury Park in March 1948 as E103 in RCTS Part 10A, Fig 125

I looked it up and found a series called Locomotives of the L.N.E.R. and there is a part 10A, not sure if that's what you're talking about. I'm hesitant to buy a copy because I don't have a lot of extra money and I don't want to buy a whole book just for one image.
