Interesting seeing the Dallas photos. I could probably find a location for the "leaving" photo - my guess is a mile or two east of Union Station.

The surroundings of Union Station have changed a lot since then. The platforms have been modernised, and I think some might have been taken out. UP running through freight on the far lines. Then dedicated platforms for DART (two - one each way), TRE (one side of one of the DART platforms), and Amtrak.

I've also seen photos of 4472 at Fort Worth - at the T&P station, and at Terrell (next town east of Dallas).
The T&P still stands and it even retains a working platform. Most of the building has been converted to apartments (aka "loft conversions").

Terrell is a reasonable sized town (by rural Texas standards) and has its own airfield. I never had the chance to visit,but there's even a small RAF museum there. During WW2 it was used by the RAF for primary training.
