New images on my web site April 2020

Post by upney sidings »

The most recent addition to my collection of original slides and negatives featuring LNER-related subjects archive material are now on my web site. There’s some very unusual material in this mix including ROD and GNR locos on the LSWR, a double-header at Shenfield and some very nice shots taken at Boston.
One hopes that they prove to be enjoyable viewing for you..........

A number of railways hired ROD 2-8-0s just after the Armistice as the locos they had supplied to the war effort were returned and overhauled (or scrapped). The LSWR had a few - maybe as many as a dozen - and they were mainly returned by 1921. Most of the larger companies had some - full details in the Rowledge book, Heavy Freight Locos of the War Department, Vol. 1.
