The use of B1s on the K/X - Hull lodging turn was evidently dictated by the route taken from Doncaster to Hull. The men in this link at King's Cross reportedly made a number of attempts over the years to get management to have the train re-routed from Doncaster to Hull via Selby, which would have allowed the use of the more powerful and more popular V2s for the job,but without success. This must have been one of the longest regular turns for a B1. The engine went down to Hull with the fish empties the previous evening.
