Had a nice day out (despite the weather!) 'up north' to Shildon to visit Locomotion. Superb collection and museum, last time I visited the plans for the NRM building had only just been announced.

J52 looking very nice in GNR livery

North Eastern Railway '901' class 910

NER Snow Plough

Image

Sad looking Austerity outside

Image

The fantastic North Eastern Railway Bo-Bo Number 1 (of 2), later classified as the ES1

Image

NER Breakdown Van sat outside - i'm presuming this is going to be restored in the near future?

Image

nom nom nom

Image

Formerly known as 'Bradyll', it now appears to be 'Nelson', the earliest surviving 0-6-0

Image

Nice Great Northern Railway crane and match truck

great pictures on your web site ,considering the weather outside. but i would like to point out that the electric bo-bo shunters only worked between trafalger yard[manors] and newcastle quayside, they never worked to tyne dock ,just the weekly run to gosforth car sheds for servicing via the ecml .

Thanks for the correction, i'll upload more later tonight or tomorrow. Richard, would you like hi-res copies of the LNER locomotives for the website?

Cheers, Rob

Sure. I might not use them all, but some could be useful. (901 comes to mind).

Shame about the reflection on some of the photos - I had the same problem myself when I tried to photograph the D17 at the NRM.

Hi Richard, PM me whatever address you'd like them sending to and i'll get them off to you.

Interestingly, when I walked by the ES1, the sun showed up the original BR crest and '26500' underneath the NER paintwork!
