Another location query

Post by Flamingo »

I found this one on EBay recently as a 35mm b'w negative. A B1 somewhere, but where? There's not much to go on but it has the look of a possible GC London Extension picture. I've tried image enhancement and the engine number might be 61315 but not really sharp enough to be sure of that. The front coach looks like M21083M. One small clue: at the bottom right hand corner there's a retaining wall and a glimpse of track on a lower level. Any ideas?

Looking at the track, FB on spikes / Macbeths came into general use about 1957. Ballast looks well used so probable date post 1960.

Wherever it is it is on the "DOWN" line.
Plus I well remeber f/b track in the early 50s.

Don't know though what Mc beth is so you may be right on that type.

The run-down state of the B1 and the Midland Region rolling stock remind me of the ex GC (London Extention), possibly somewhere like Bullwell. Any suggestions :?:
