Unidentified locations

Post by blandford1969 »

Hi all,

You have very kindly in the past helped with identification of photos. I have put a new set of unidentified locations up on Flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/29644579@N ... 575337288/ some have already been located around Butterknowle, Stockton, Fighting Cocks and various locations. However there are still a good number to be identified.

Any help will be very gratefully appreciated

Kind regards

Duncan

I'm 99% certain "14" is Honeypot Lane Crossing on the S&DR between S&D Crossing and Fighting Cocks station. If you could read the number on the S&D ceramic plaque top left corner of the cottage it would confirm this as I have a list of these plaques. Honeypot Lane would be "F1".

Duncan,
One teeny clue only can I offer : In 'unidentified 25' the signal in the shadow of the bridge looks to be one of the Southern Railway's 'rail-built' type (post constructed from two or more joined sections of rail).

That one is definitely Southern - partly due to the standard pattern SR concrete lamp post.

Cheers for the replies, it and only about 3 others remain unidentified.

Now a question could this one http://www.flickr.com/photos/29644579@N ... 6575337288 be on the line to Reedsmouth from Scotsgap?

kind regards

It could be anywhere! I doubt even Columbo could crack that one? Just a thought- are these prints or negatives you have? If they are negatives on a strip the pictures either side may give a clue as to where the one in the middle is.

The trackbed at Reedsmouth and Scots gap was in good condition as it was being ripped up after closure this track has been neglected for a while.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
