Locomotive sheds of the Great Central Railway photos?

Post by Stirling Single »

Currently I am in the process of researching the GCR, at the moment I am looking into building a 00 gauge locomotive shed based on the GC design specification. At the moment I have a few black and white photographs in books of GC sheds however have had to hazard a guess in the way of the type of brick that was used. Was it Engineers blue brick Red brick or a yellowish colour there is some difference in the BW photos with lighter shades. Was there a unanimous aspect of shed building?

Also a related topic, does anyone have photos of Weekday Cross, Arkwright street station, Nottingham Victoria, Sherwood Rise and Nottingham queens walk goods yard.

I would be most grateful to any help with these topics.

My intentions are to model a Nottingham section of the GCR in 00

It is a painting I know, but it looks pretty accurate to me.

although having said that, the low sun lighting does make the engineers blue brick look rather red.
