Memories of the Malton Dodger - Photographic Talk

A gentleman who was a guard on the Malton to Driffield line during 1957 and beyond will be sharing stories and photographs from his time on duty

The talk is on Thursday 3rd November at 7.30pm at the Old Lodge, Old Maltongate, Malton.

Entrance is free for members or £3 per person (£2 for concessions) and everyone is welcome. There will also be the chance to find out more about the railway and to talk to the committee.

I just looked at your site to see what the progress was. It does look like you are moving forwards with a feasibility study and a visitor's centre. The feasibility study implies only a section of the line will be opened. Is this the whole plan, or intended as simply a first stage - with full opening at some point in the undefined future?

The initial plan is to complete the feasibility study which will release funds for the first stages of the line. As with any preservation project we have to take this in gradual steps and not overstretch ourselves, but we seem to have the overwhelming support of the local parish councils, who know that our project will be a boost to the area as a whole.
