The 'New Look' starts to be rolled out...

Post by richard »

The first page is in place:

http://www.lner.info/

I may adjust some of the spacing slightly over the next day or so.

Also we still have the image of the V2 with the EWS diesel behind it. It would be good to replace it with a colour image with LNER liveries (&stock) that doesn't have any modern bits (diesels, overhead wires, etc), if anyone has one with suitable copyright?

I have a good picture of 4472 from the 1920s that the previous web designer was going to use, but it is black and white.

Thanks Karl, but I think it should be LNER livery/etc.
The previous picture had overhead wires and BR livery. This one has a diesel!

Hi Richard,

The site is looking really great Richard. I do agree about the photo though.

Have you seen the superb shot of 4472 in front of Doncaster shed, it's in colour and the engine is in steam. The photo is used in Wikepedia - I have no idea about its copywrite.

Here's the link:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LNER_Class ... g_Scotsman

I quite like the look of a b/w engine photos of4472, they are quite redolent of the period in which these engines were constructed and are usually from the early period of the LNER .

Ben Thornhill has sent me a picture of a Thompson B1 which fits most of my requirements, although it isn't an 'icon' in the same was as an A3 or A4.
I'll try adding that later today.

As well as the unknown copyright, the picture on Wikipedia also has German smoke deflectors - a BR addition. If BR green wasn't good enough then neither are the 'ears'!

Yes I like that black & white picture of 4472. Shame it isn't colour. Of course the other 'header' pictures are black and white. If Ben's doesn't work out I could try it.

The B1 is in place. It could probably be feathered a bit better, but my graphics program is a bit old to say the least!

You see how difficult it is to get a colour picture that is pure LNER!

(SNG on the NYMR would be in BR Blue)

I suppose the only way you will get an LNER engine with LNER teach coach in LNER livery is Mallard at the NRM apart from you will always get the museum backgroun in the photo.

Now that 4771 Green Arrow's boiler has been passed for a further final 7 months I beleive, a visit to the NYMR is expected, so maybe a shot of that on the teak stock may be possible?
