NYMR's Lottery grant

Post by 2392 »

So after the recent bad new with regards to the Moors teak set. Some really great news the NYMR have had their 1st stage lottery grant of £4.6 million [50% of the the whole. £9.2] confirmed. Now for the hard part the Moors fundraising their £4.6 million. Hopefully the County Council will chip in again [as they did for bridge 30] for the bridges at Goathland. As the Moors do generate £30+/- million of income for the area as a whole.

There are several projects being planned. Not least the side by side bridges [they look like a single bridge] at the south end just off the platforms of Goathland station, as they like bridge 30 need replacing. Covered accomodation for rolling stock in Pickering being planned before the recent vandal attack on the teaks. New/improved volunnteer facilities at Grosmont to name but 3 ideas/plans, there are more. As things stand this is going to take about 5 years+/-. Which the lottery know about and accept as the application does cover quite a range of improvements for the Moors.

Just to clear, this is a stage one pass, the NYMR has now to raise match funding to unlock the whole grant.

I saw the teak set in action on Monday 4th September behind 44806.

They looked in excellent condition.
