Sad news indeed,
I was pleased to make contact with Nick when he sold me a NuCast O2/2 kit, as he was moving to O gauge.
He struck me as having a great sense of humour.
The modelling world is poorer with his passing.

I have just registered with the LNER Encyclopaedia and was saddened to hear that Nick Campling passed away some time ago.
I was introduced to Nick in the 1970s at his shop in Colchester. We used to have regular Saturday morning chats in his garden shed. He introduced me to the LNER and EM gauge and I also bought a number of superbly painted 4mm goods wagons from him, which I still have. He also showed me how to construct Gresley coaches from plasticard. And of corse I bought his book (co-authored with David Jenkinson). I have recently retrieved these from years of storage and will complete them.
He was a real gentleman, friendly and generous with his time.
