A track test between a sprinter and the Autocar may persuade Northern that retro is the way to go.

We won't charge them for unregistered design right...

The newsletter is at the printers and the electronic copies went out over a week ago (if any members haven't got theirs, PM me).

Down at Loughborough, earlier today there was an inspection and a short test run in the yard.

A longer trip is due soon but no dates as yet.

We'll be at York model railway show over Easter, so if you're going, for the latest news, drop by our stand on the second mezzanine & say hello.

As i predicted a while ago first runs are looking like the delivery of an old fashioned HGV chassis.

Ay up!

Reminds me of a test run of a model diesel without the body! Well done all!

Yes, but thanks for the thought. If anyone sees a photo of the autocar they aren't sure if we have, please do let us know. Thanks.

I see they hung the safety chains over the buffers - we have to do that on the model one as well or they catch on the trackwork.

The two chains visible in that photo are for limiting the rotation of the bogie. Such devices were common on some pre-grouping coaches.

More positive news - we've had a second test on the GCR, this time running all the way from Loughborough to Leicester and back four times at around 30mph. The engineering team were very happy with the results and the chassis has just been returned to Embsay ready for the body to be attached. There's a newsletter due shortly and this will have a full report and more pictures. Both of the stills below and the videos are courtesy of Peter Field, many thanks to him for these.

And at Loughborough, also on the second day of testing.

Two more video clips of testing:

Certianly wouldn't or at least shouldn't have any problems with the "air conditioning"   , running the Autocar like that. Seriously though great work you Guys. Look forward to the day, along with the Auto trailer you/they visit the North Yorkshire Moors and run opposite the resident Class 101 DMU.
