Excellent work everyone. Beautiful stuff. There's some real gems coming out of the woodwork in LNER places...

Another one!!! but what an interesting find, I'm always amazed how these old coaches survive, in sheds, barns and inside house's, hope this one will be put back into running order to.

PS, I hope one somebody will find a LNER Sentinal steam railcar.

Unlikely, but a Clayton Trailer did survive long enough to be a holiday home/hut. I strongly suspect it has been scrapped by now though.

Yes it was a holiday cottage on the east coast near Hornsea at Cowden. It eventually fell into the sea because of erosion.

Any news on the 'Autocar', been a couple of months, can't be far off completion. :D

From experience, I can tell you that the last mile of a project like this is the most hectic time.

Please do be understanding if they can't update things here as often as you'd like.

The number of little jobs to do just seems to explode like crazy.

Sawdust.

Wonder no longer... (Sawdust is perfectly correct and when you have family ill as well, it's doubly hectic!)

The newsletter was e-mailed out Friday afternoon, with the hard copy at the printers. Detailed news in there, but - we have a launch date. We anticipate October will see the autocar return to service after an 88 year career break. Initially for members & guests only, it will be available for public service at a later date - one problem is there's currently no heating, so a regular winter service is unlikely in 2018/19.

We met yesterday and distracted the painters, busy giving the autocar its vermillion and ivory livery. The engine-room roof is now replaced and all the old familiar gaps in sides and roof filled. 3170 is doing a very passable impression of a vehicle almost ready for service. There are still some mechanical and control bits to take care of but that work is scheduled and we plan to do some testing during September.

No point in rushing into things!

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. The printed newsletter's gone out, members should all have got their copies and launch invites by now. (PM or e-mail me if you haven't). Two photos of recent work below, both courtesy Alan Chandler.

If you were by the lineside of the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway this Wednesday afternoon, you'd have seen something few, if any, living people have seen: an autocar running in NER livery. We took 't'owd lass' out for a run for some brake testing and (at least some of the time!) the sun was shining. So, a sneaky preview of the launch, with one of Alan Chandler's photos below.

Back to the grind, there's still work to do, despite the apparently finished appearance in the photo, and we'll have the autocoach to polish up ready for the launch/members' day next month to recreate the Poppleton Junction photo of the autocar and autocoach.
