Finally had a ride recently, nice run and almost full capacity, was told that until the trailer is complete no visits elsewhere are viable and completion of it could be delayed by lack of volunteer labour. Amusingly some passengers were annoyed it was not a steam train despite the compulsory pre booking on line being clear enough I thought.

Hello all,

Yes, the mathematics of hiring (not to mention the problems of Covid) have wrecked what plans were in place for visits. And while we have plenty of moral support, those able to provide physical labour can usually be counted on the fingers of one hand. Which has delayed progress somewhat...

I've had a long and enforced absence myself - I fell seriously ill last summer and very nearly died. 'Thanks' to the assorted deficiencies of the NHS, I am not in a good condition and the current outlook is very bleak. Which means I am not able to do any work (paid or unpaid) for the foreseeable future. The secretary got the 'autumn' newsletter out for me but as things are I doubt I'll be able to work on anything during 2022, if ever. So if you can help, especially re acting as a newsletter editor, do please get in touch asap.

Simon

Thank you manna.

(Fairly obviously) I'm still here, however, I regret to say while some things are now better than they were, there are still some very major problems outstanding and the finger of blame is pointing very firmly at the NHS. You can imagine how that makes me feel.

Back to the autocar. I'm still a member but am in no fit state to fulfill any specific role. So I have handed over my various duties - John Carr is i/c publicity and sales and a new chap has volunteered for the newsletter editor's position.

One last 'publicity'-related posting - the trailer autocoach is due to see some service soon, as per the screenshot of Embsay's 'round-robin' marketing email below. I know it's short notice but hey, if you have chance to get to Embsay? The way the weather is, if the car's got aircon, then driving might be more comfortable than staying in the house. Until you think about the price of fuel?
