G'Day Gents
From an outsiders point of view, everythings going to Shildon, will there be any thing left at York, except a big empty shell of a MPD, and we've got enough of those scattered around the country

Re: Tornado + Mallard
They're doing the great hall up, so this could be temporary, but they are putting another one in place, so don't know. I am reliably informed by someone I know who works there, who I found last week on Mallards footplate, they are soon to open the Duchesses footplate!
Plus, Mallard needs to be back for 30th September for the 75th anniversary of Silver Links first fare paying run!

Don't think I'll be popping up there to see her, and from my fleeting visit, where are they going to put her? I only went to see green Arrow and the Prototype deltic, green arrow was no problem, but the deltic, wedged in the middle, with a FNRM stall in front, I left in disgust, and nearly asked for my money back!

Some bright spark came up with the idea of building a perspex model of a ferry on the turntable, whilst they refurbish the great hall, I have no idea why we need a expensive perspex ferry, that blocks the turntable, from it's proper use! without having to dismantle half the ferry???
In my eyes all that wasted time and money could have been spent, on returning 'Mallard' or 'Green Arrow' to traffic, Oh Dear

The nrm gets grants and budgets for different things, eg workshop, which covers things like engine overhauls and running repairs, plus my wages
There is also a budget for events and displays, and this has to be spent on certain things. The ferry is one way of using this budget on a area of the museum the public don't usually have access to.
Hope this helps with regards to how money is spent at the nrm.
