MALLARD TO VISIT AUSTRALIA
G'Day Gents
Just heard that 'Mallard' is to visit Australia, later this year, sofar I,ve heard that she will arrive in Perth WA and visit each State capital, on arrival in Brisbane she will be repainted BR green and renamed 'Commonwealth of Australia' and again visit each State capital, on her way back to Perth, before returning to the UK, in the middle of 2011. Something to do with a 150 years of the railways in Australia, Good A!!

Havent you forgotten about the temporary renaming to Commonwealth of Australia.

On the return, will she be forming part of that new Chinese High Speed service overland?

I had to put it in at that time as it was time for work, will admit it would be nice to see a A4 over here, plenty of long straights for her to stretch her legs, Had some big floods in our 'red centre' the 'Alice' won't see any, but a vast area of Queensland and New South Wales is underwater, they say it's Half the size of 'Europe' and it's running south to the River Darling
Hard to think that it's been almost 50 years since I've seen 'Commonwealth of Australia'
manna
PS did anyone guess it was an April fool???????

Even i did,and i'm daft!!!Seriously though,if GRESLEY,or BITTERN were over there, what kind of speeds do you guys think they'd do?
Bring back Ferrybridge station!
Re: MALLARD TO VISIT AUSTRALIA
If Flying Scotsman can come to Australia why not an A4.I saw 4472 in Melbourne and rode behind it twice in South Australia, even tender first at night. So why not an A4,we can only wish.

Sorry FF, I missed your post.....Speeds here are a lot lower here, not 100% sure, but I think there is a blanket speed limit of 110kph (70mph) in South Aust.Far to many level crossings
Agree with A4Gresley, would be great to see an A4 in Australia, plenty of long straights (300miles) to stretch there legs
