Re: Border Counties Railway
The Aln Valley are providing some scrap rails as part of this project, we wish them well.
If anyone has not already been to the Bellingham Heritage Centre, I would recommend it, the display of railway stuff is really good.

Re: Border Counties Railway
Rails were finally laid at Bellingham Station at the weekend as part of the development plans for the museum. It is good to see some rails back on the Border Counties, its just a shame that they don't run all the way to Riccarton Junction.
Re: Border Counties Railway
The sleeper spacing looks a tad wide.
I take it that this will be for storage and not form part of an eventual running line?
Good to see progress though and tidy with it.

Re: Border Counties Railway
The plan is to use it to stand a couple of old coaches on to provide an extra display area for the museum. The track is actually odd short lengths of scrap rail that have been welded into useable lengths. Once it is ballasted up to rail level, the wide spacing will not be obvious. It will need a bit of further fettling before they can run a D30 Scott and a couple of Gresley coaches through to Reedsmouth!!

. . . and the track looks a bit too close to the wall to allow for any overhang.

Re: Border Counties Railway
The coaches have now arrived and are in position on the track. It was fascinating watching the MFD jacks used to traverse the coaches into position.

600441,
Thanks for posting that an interesting watch indeed.
What were they part of, I am guessing a southern EMU was it a 2EPB? Would they have moved under their own power if they had it?
Thanks again
Simon.

They appear to be the end cars on the Southern 4TC sets which operated on the LSWR route down to Weymouth with the 4REP push pull sets. Have a look for the prototype info on the southern email group.
